Planning how to be safe/manage distress

It is not necessarily about trying to rid one’s life of stresses – that is impossible. We need to learn to more readily tolerate and manage distress. When one moves from a position in which life has just always happened to them, to realising that they can formulate plans, in order to manage what life throws at them, or they throw at themselves for that matter, then difficulties, facing painful feelings and distress does not have to be so all-encompassing and destructive.

What can you do to make your self feel safe and comforted when distressed?

If this is hard to think of immediately, what does unsafe and uncontained emotion look like and work from there.
